You have come to this page because you are exhibiting signs of excessive stress. After visting your Doctor to rule out more serious complications, you simply must deal with this stress. Below are two simple techniques that you can use to help you rapidly reduce your levels of stress.

The Seven Eleven Breath

This is a simple technique that can be used anywhere and in almost any situation. Any deep breathing methods are beneficial to stress reduction but this one emphasises the longer "out breath" which prevents an excessive build up of 02 (oxygen) which can precipitate panic attacks. The technique: Keep your mouth closed and breathe in through your nose while counting mentally to seven and breathe out through your nose while counting mentally to eleven. Count as fast or as slow as you like but make sure you count at the same pace on each breath. Continue breathing in this way until you feel the symptoms recede. Practice this technique until it becomes second nature anytime you feel stressed.

Fingers and Toes

This is wonderful stress reduction technique that induces deep relaxation. The technique: Sit in a comfortable chair with your feet on the floor and your hands resting on your thighs. Allow your eyes to close and begin to imagine yourself starting to breathe in through your fingertips and out through your toes. Begin to feel the air travelling up your arms, into the shoulders and then exhaling down into your chest, abdomen, thighs and gently out through your toes. Notice how it affects your entire body. You may like to imagine the air when you breath in as being a different colour from the air that you breathe out. Continue for as long as you need. Practice this technique until it becomes second nature.
